If you're going to use the Unifi product line, stay within the Unifi series of gear. Your best bet is to get a Unifi PoE switch, and the Unifi Security Gateway (aka, router) - that way all devices are managed by the same controller in one single pane of glass.

I have a 1700 Sqft house with one Ubiquity access point in my office connected to a Uniquity 8-port switch and their Secure Gateway. I have full bars access in every place and also extending to my front and back yards.
That combination of the three pieces was the solution for my internal network and Wifi.
